Particularly in metropolitan and industrial areas, because the ground is paved or compacted it is less able to fulfill its natural functions.On one hand the ground loses the natural ability to store or"ffer"rain water which can lead to very quickly over-burdening storm water infrastructure leading to flooding, and on the other hand  the air cannot be cooled and humidified by the natural ground"perspiring", contributing to the well-known "Heat Island Effect".To counteract this trend and to help to prevent the negative effects of traditional sealed paving, more and more municipalities,  architects and civil engineers are designing perme able and vegetated paving systems-a wise and affordable investment. Using the Moonbay permeable paving grid system, in comparison to sealed surfaces, saves costly storm water retention ponds and other drainage and infrastructure  systems.The installation is quick and simple without the use of expensive mechanical equipment.The paved area is filled with gravel or vegetated and remains permeable.Compared with heavy concrete pavers, Moonbay permeable paving grid system is easy and economical to transport and has ultra-high load bearing capacity (up to 800 t / m²).The 95% open surface is signifificantly more permeable and allows a much higher degree of infiltration.In contrast to the concrete pavers this permeable grid system does not absorb water, which prevents frost damage and increases the infiltration capacity.

Moonbay permeable paving grid system can be installed quickly and easily  without heavy construction equipment. One pack is equal to 1.33 m² and consists  of 12 single pieces (4x3).

The weight of each pack is low and the click interlocking works quickly and easily.

Drain cell, also drainage cell, is made of high polyethylene raw material in a flexible, honeycomb design of sub­soil HDPE modular drainage layer. Moonbay drain cell has a flat black which is pressed against an underground structure such as a basement wall or subsurface footing providing high compressive strength yet lightweight modules for sub­surface drainage purpose. Drain cell is the suitable geotechnical material that can create a permanent, non-clogging void between the concrete slab and the soil profile that will not collapse or distort. The pressure of backfilled soils holds the drainage cell in place. The optimized void enables a direct flow of water to designated outlets avoiding the risk of water build-up and penetration. The large surface and capacity void space enables superior drainage efficiency compared to the small voids created by using a gravel system. Generally, there will cover a layer of filtration geotextile upon the drainage core to allow the unrestricted flow of moisture into the core, while it restricts the passing of soil particles which may clog the core. It’s a good choice for vertical applications where require moderate compressive strength and flow capacity are adequate.
