Drain channel size is one of the key details to confirm before selecting a linear drainage system.

In many drainage projects, the channel size is described by its internal width, often shown as ID. For example, ID100 means the internal width of the channel is approximately 100 mm. Larger sizes, such as ID150, ID200, ID300, ID400 and ID500, are usually selected when the project requires higher drainage capacity or a wider water collection area.

Moonbay drain channels are available in a complete size range from ID100 to ID500, covering different applications from landscape drainage to commercial and heavy-duty drainage areas.

    What Does ID100–ID500 Mean?

ID refers to the internal width of the drain channel.

A smaller channel, such as ID100, is commonly used for gardens, patios, balconies, walkways and residential drainage projects.

Medium sizes, such as ID150 and ID200, are often used for courtyards, building entrances, pedestrian areas and general commercial drainage.

Larger sizes, such as ID300, ID400 and ID500, are usually selected for areas with higher water collection requirements, such as plazas, parking areas, driveways, industrial areas or large outdoor surfaces.

The right size should be selected according to the project layout, expected water flow, available installation depth, cover type and loading requirement.

    Standard Channel Length

For many linear drainage systems, the standard channel length is commonly 1000 mm per piece.

This modular length makes the system easier to transport, connect and install on site. It also allows the drainage line to be arranged more flexibly according to the project layout.

When the drainage line reaches corners, wall edges, outlet positions or special connection points, the channel can be cut or adjusted based on the actual installation condition.

Can Width, Length and Depth Be Customized?

Standard sizes are suitable for many projects, but some sites require non-standard dimensions.

For example, a project may already have an existing concrete trench. In this case, the drainage product needs to match the trench instead of changing the entire structure.

Some projects may have limited installation height, so a shallower channel is required. Other projects may need a deeper channel to increase water collection capacity.

In these situations, the width, length and depth of the drain channel can be customized according to the project drawings and site requirements.

Drain channel selection is not only about choosing the internal width.

The cover type, loading requirement, outlet position, installation depth and site condition should also be considered together.

Different projects may require different cover options, such as stainless steel covers, galvanized grating covers, HDPE covers or ductile iron covers. For pedestrian areas, anti-slip and heel-safe performance may be important. For vehicle areas, the loading class should be confirmed. For landscape and architectural projects, the appearance of the cover may also be part of the design requirement.

A suitable drain channel should match both the drawing and the real site condition.

Moonbay offers drain channels from ID100 to ID500, and customized width, length and depth can also be supported when the project requires special dimensions.

If a project has specific size, depth, outlet or loading requirements, providing the drainage layout, installation depth and site condition is usually the best way to confirm the suitable channel size.
